After many years of prayer and discussions, CBT has entered into an agreement with Tyndale House Publishers to produce a One Year Chronological Study Bible (OYCSB). We are so excited about this project! The goal for the OYCSB is to allow readers to discover, understand, and tell the story of the Bible using the CBT 14 Eras so they can live out their relationship with God. We are part of God’s story. The God of Abraham, Moses, David, Paul, and Peter is our God. Understanding God’s story allows us to take our place in the greatest story ever told!
The OYCSB will organize the Bible into 14 eras, or passages of time, that are both memorable and knowable by ANYONE. Finally it will be easy to remember where you have been, and know where you are going, and to put the whole story together as you study the Bible. The days of ignoring whole portions of Scripture because they are confusing or do not seem applicable to today’s culture are gone! We hope readers of this Bible develop a depth of understanding to evaluate their life in the light of God’s word, and to develop the confidence to teach others.
The new study Bible will provide readers with chronological era overviews, daily introductory material and discovery questions, as well as additional charts, maps and articles for deeper insight. Many believers have gaps in their knowledge of God because there are gaps in their understanding of Scripture. The features in this Bible are helpful and informative to the seminary academic and the lay person, the Bible teacher, and the small group Bible study student. The OYCSB aids parents instructing their children, believers helping their non-believing friend, and counselors providing help for another who is disoriented. Whether you are reading the Bible for the first time or have been studying the Bible for years, our feature content will help guide you in your faith journey. You will discover God as He has revealed Himself in Scripture and be challenged to trust Him more deeply.
In Experiencing God, Henry Blackaby writes, “Some people say, ‘God will never ask me to do something I can’t do.’ I have come to the place in my life that, if the assignment I sense God is giving me is something that I know I can handle, I know it is probably not from God. The kind of assignments God gives in the Bible are always God-sized. They are always beyond what people can do, because He wants to demonstrate His nature, His strength, His provision, and His kindness to His people and to a watching world. This is the only way the world will come to know Him.” Please pray with us as we take on this God-sized task! Pray specifically for our writers (Iva, Stan, Joel, and Jennifer), editor (Steven) and the Tyndale House team (Blaine, Mark and Dave). The main portion of writing and design will take place from January to August of 2021, then it heads to print in late 2021 with an release date of June 2022.
